If I am renting Studio 3E, do I get the entire studio or will other photographers be using it at the same time?

Depending on your requirements we will do our best to accommodate you.  As the studio is very large and while we have the space to allow more than one client to book at the same time, we do not.  In some cases we understand that discretion is required and we work with our clients to make that work.  If you have a shoot that requires discretion, we can ensure that the studio is empty aside from our staff member.

What do I need to bring when I rent Studio 3E?

At Studio 3E we have tried to make it as simple as possible.  You bring your skill, camera and model/client... we provide the rest.  We have multiple sets and backdrops for you to explore your creative side.

Parking

As the studio entrance is located on the east side of the building (toward the stadium), it is recommended that you also park on the east side of the building... That is, unless you want to walk around the building. Make sure NOT to park in front of any signs that say "Loading Zone" or "No Parking". They are very clearly marked. I would hate for you to have your car towed while you are using the studio.

Do I need to carry my props and gear up three flights of stairs.

Not unless you feel that you need the exercise... Studio 3E has access to a freight elevator to assist with getting your gear up to the studio. The freight elevator is rated for 6000 pounds.

How much does it cost to rent Studio 3E?

Studio 3E is available for rent in blocks of 3 hours at a rate of $135.00 plus tax per 3 hour block ($45.00 per hour). Based on the fact that the studio is fully equipped, we feel that this is a more than reasonable rate.  Basically, you bring your client, camera, any specific props and you are ready to go. After the first 3 hours additional hours are available at $45.00 per hour which is the normal breakdown rate. We provide all of the equipment needed to execute a photoshoot (strobe flashes, constant ligthing, triggers, remotes, sets, backdrops, etc.). For those photographers who have ongoing needs to rent Studio 3E, we will negotiate a rate based on your need.   We have at your disposal:
  • 5 Alien Bee 800 strobes (with modeling lamps)
  • 2 Alien Bee 1600 strobes (with modeling lamps)
  • 3 500 watt Novatron constant lights (2-250 watt independently controlled bulbs in each unit)

Studio 3E is one big "prop".   Booking is handled in 3 hour blocks.  You pick the start time and get 3 hours from there.  You want to start at 1:00 PM, no problem.  How about 1:45 PM?  No problem there either.  Book your time online any day of the week.  Once you book your time, you will receive confirmation of your booking, a separate PayPal invoice for the booking and additionally receive an e-mail reminder 1 day prior to your booking with all of the details. Please note: You must register with the site in order to be able to book time at Studio 3E. There is no charge to register with the site.

Does Studio 3E have makeup artists available if I need them?

Yes.  Of course unless you request an MUA, we will not have one onsite.  MUA availability will also come into play, so make sure to let us know that you need an MUA for your shoot and we will do our best to accommodate you. MUA charges are outside of the fees charged for renting Studio 3E.

Can I bring my own MUA for my shoot?

Certainly!  Weather you use our resident MUAs Quiana & Charlee or you bring you own, you are sure to  have a great experience.  We have a private dressing room with fully lit makeup area.  The deck height on the makeup area is about 40 inches high which was an ergonomically recommended height (by MUAS, for MUAs).  You would not want your MUA ending up with a sore back from having to bend over several hours while applying the perfect touches to your model or client.

Cancellations: Bookings are non-refundable however, bookings cancelled 48 hours or more of the requested date/time may be moved to another date.  You must contact the studio in order to move your booking 48 hours or more in advance.

C-Stand Use

Please ensure you are familiar with the proper use of a C-Stand as Studio 3E has two to choose from aside from various other stands. On a C-Stand, the high leg/longest leg should ALWAYS follow the boom arm/load. This provides for the most stable setup in conjunction with the proper use of sand bags. Do not swing the boom arm without re-aligning the longest floor leg to match with the boom arm/load. A strobe falling to the ground because of misuse is not only ugly - it is expensive.

Power Cable/Cord Care

Please ensure that cables are not wound/wrapped in a tight manner. This will prematurely degrade and damage the cables/cords. I would much rather spend money to enhance the studio for your use as opposed to replacing cables/cords due to improper care.

Sand Bags

The studio intentionally has more sand bags than lights and stands. The is no reason for a light not to have a sand bag on it at all times. Sand bags assist in preventing expensive lights from falling to the ground and proper use keeps you from having to pay for the damages.
